SHAPING THE FUTURE:
YOUNG FOLK ARTISTS OF OAXACA 2011
A 64-page full color catalogue is being released at the inauguration on October 29th, 2011 of the exhibition that grows out of FOFA/MEAPO’s Second Competition for Young Folk Artists. Entitled, “Shaping the Future: Young Folk Artists of Oaxaca 2011,” it features the 41 artists who won and received honorable mention in the August, 2011 concurso. The volume includes photographs of each artist and his or her outstanding works — in ceramics, weaving, woodcarving, decorative painting of woodcarving, and “other modalities” (jewelry, papier mache, and tooled tin) — as well as statements about each piece, and information about how to find these inspiring creators in their home studios.
