Great Opportunity to Buy Dead of the
Dead Ceramic Pieces by Internationally-Acclaimed Carlomagno Pedro
Martínez
|
|
|
|
| FOFA is working closely
with Carlomagno Pedro Martínez, the Director of the State
Museum of Popular Art and an internationally-known ceramicist,
on "Oaxacan Popular Arts in the New Millennium." Carlomagno
and many members of his family are famous for their remarkable
black ceramic figures. |
 |
 |
 |
Carlomagno has generously donated six of his
remarkable pieces to be sold to benefit FOFA's inaugural
project. Proceeds will be devoted to the creation of a high
quality catalog that will provide further recognition and encouragement
to these young artesanos.

| Great Mezcal, Great
Botanas and Great Art. A robust start in funding the
catalogue was made on April 30th when Arden Rothstein, FOFA's
President and co-author (with her daughter Anya) of "Mexican
Folk Art from Oaxacan Artist Families," opened her home
in New York City for a private art viewing. Arden’s life-long
affiliation with Oaxaca and immersion in the folk art scene
has given her the opportunity to buy unique and remarkable pieces
to which she offered an informal and anecdotal "tour."
This was accompanied by outstanding mezcal (provided by Scorpion
Mezcal, S.A. & Caballeros Inc.) and delicious botanas (catered
by Paladar Restaurant). |

| Artistic Catalogue
Planned. FOFA will prepare a high-quality, bi-lingual
catalogue to provide further recognition and encouragement for
these talented young people. It will include a profile of each
young artist, photographs of his or her art, and contact information
for collectors. Our goal is to now raise $10,000 for this project.
We will recognize all of our generous donors of $500 or more
with a listing prominently displayed in the catalogue. |
