This type of ceramics (called “loza verde”) is a signature of the pueblo of Santa María Atzompa where its production extends back for many generations. It is used both for domestic purposes and for purely decorative ones by local residents, as well as tourists. A yellow-colored glaze (“greta”) is applied that, in the process of firing, turns a brilliant green.
