PAINTED-RED

Painted red ceramics – sculptural pieces beautifully painted in a wide palette of colors — are primarily found in the pueblo of Ocotlán de Morelos , where they are produced by many members of the Aguilar family. Each one carries on the tradition (depending upon his or her generation) of their parents, grandparents or great-grandparents.  In another pueblo, San Antonino Castillo Velasco, the Valencia family produces work in an entirely different style of painted red ceramics. All three sons have found inspiration in the work of their father.
