To help you find artists in their home studios and plan excursions, see “Oaxacan Folk Art-at-a-Glance.” This booklet provides a brief, geographically-arranged overview of the pueblos most easily accessible from Oaxaca City, as well as artists within the city. It includes the type(s) of folk art produced in each pueblo, the distance from Oaxaca City and estimated time of travel by car, as well as a sampler of artists and artist families and where to find them. Rest assured that all those included produce fine work. However, in reviewing our suggestions, bear two things in mind: there are many excellent artists we do not include and individual tastes vary widely when it comes to folk art.
